Synopsis
My Voice, My life is a documentary directed by Oscar-winning Chinese-American filmmaker Ruby Yang. A group of under-privileged Hong Kong young people challenge themselves to produce a musical on stage only after six months’ trainings. Their hard-working and insistence reflects the new generation’s potentials and power which sometimes have been ignored or depressed by the society. Nowadays, young people are always considered to be irresponsible, decadent, lazy and alienated. The film emerges the most controversial issues on education and social development such as how to break young people’s stereotype; how to bridge the generation gap with patience and trust; how to provide the young people a better stage domestically and socially; and how to reallocate unbalanced education resources. Hopefully, those confident and enthusiastic young people in the film may be the best answer.
