Synopsis
Human beings are inherently social animals, and everyone longs for open communication to better understand themselves and each other. Unfortunately, everyone will always have their own biases and desires, preventing them from expressing what they wish to say. The four works selected for the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts' School of Film and Television graduation showcase revolve around the themes of desire and communication. Crossing tells the story of a monk who, during a trip down the mountain to buy Buddhist supplies, is seduced by a group of prostitutes, leading him to struggle between faith and desire; The End Began Somewhere effectively depicts the new generation's despair and dissatisfaction with society. Is it only by recognizing reality that we can find a way out? On Her Way takes place during the pandemic, exploring the disconnect yet inseparable bond between family, through a mother's experience of returning to Hong Kong to live with her daughter; '_ _ _' set in a world of silence, follows an uncle who constantly seeks dialogue, with the only motivation for his daily existence being the sound of breathing he hears through the telephone. Communication doesn't necessarily require words. The four graduation pieces seem to open a platform for communication with the outside world, inviting everyone to understand the creators' inner desires and feelings. They have spoken; will you be willing to listen?"

*After the screening, there will be a 30-minute creative sharing session.
